New Mexico to scrub about 200 deserted wells with $25 million grant


State of New Mexico is scheduled to obtain $25 million in October to scrub deserted oil wells and one other $18.7 million later from the U.S. Division of Inside.  Inside is sending $560 million to 24 states to scrub orphaned wells.  The state’s Oil and Conservation Division recognized about 1,700 deserted wells in New Mexico, and Sidney Hill informed Santa Fe New Mexican the $25 million will allow the state to scrub about 200 wells.  New Mexico certified for the utmost preliminary grant of $25 million due to its variety of deserted wells and estimated cleanup prices.  Adrienne Sandoval, company director, beforehand stated the state plugs about 50 deserted wells a 12 months at a median value of $42,000 every.
