In a move that signals a massive shift from traditional farming to high-tech agriculture, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched ‘Amul AI’ today in Anand. This initiative marks the first major integration of Artificial Intelligence into India’s cooperative dairy framework, aiming to modernize the livelihoods of over 3.6 million farmers and cement India’s position as the “Dairy of the World.”

The launch isn’t just about a new software update; it’s a fundamental overhaul of how the world’s largest dairy cooperative operates. Amul is transitioning its vast network—spanning 18,500 villages—from legacy data management to an integrated, AI-driven ecosystem. By leveraging predictive analytics and real-time data, the system is designed to optimize milk collection, monitor cattle health, and streamline supply chains that were previously managed through manual or semi-digital processes.

Speaking to a massive crowd in the milk capital, CM Patel linked the initiative directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a self-reliant (Atmanirbhar) India. He noted that while the cooperative spirit built Amul, only advanced technology can sustain its growth in a competitive global market. With recent international trade agreements opening doors for Indian exports, the AI integration is seen as the “secret sauce” to meeting global quality and volume standards.

The event, attended by heavyweights including Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary and Agriculture Minister Jitubhai Vaghani, underscored the government’s commitment to the “Cooperation to Prosperity” model. By merging government backing with cutting-edge tech, Gujarat is betting that “Amul AI” will do for the dairy industry what UPI did for digital payments—making a complex, massive system accessible and hyper-efficient.
